The Department of Health (DOH) reported on May 15 that the total number of cases in the country reached 12,091, breaking the 12,000 mark. The number of deaths is now at 806 with 16 new deaths reported.
The Health agency reported 215 new confirmed cases: 144 from the National Capital Region (NCR), 2 from Region 7 and 69 from other areas.
The total recoveries are reported at 2,460, with 123 recoveries reported today.

As of 4PM today, May 15, 2020, the DOH reports 215 new cases (PH11877-PH12091) of COVID-19. The total number of cases in the country is now at 12,091.

DOH also reported that as of May 13, the latest testing data available, the total tests conducted is at 191,963 and unique individuals tested at 184,857.
The number of positive individuals is at 16,393 but the DOH has confirmed only 12,091. The health agency explained regularly that the they still need to verify the cases, meaning the confirmed cases they announce is always lower that the positive shown in their online NCOV Tracker. The difference of the positive to confirmed cases is 4,302. The number of confirmed cases is only 74% of the positive cases.
The DOH hit its 8,000 tests per day target on May 10, which was ten days later than its April 30 target. It missed again on May 12, only able to test 6,455. It was able to do 11,563 tests on May 13, inching closer to its 20,000 per day by May 15 and 30,000 per day by May 31.
By May 16, a third extension of the lockdown is in effect in NCR, along with Laguna and Cebu City until May 31, under the “modified enhanced community quarantine.”
According to John Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center, the total confirmed cases in the world has reached 4,498,579. Global deaths are at 304,631.
