(Updated) The number of new confirmed COVID-19 cases among health workers doubled from yesterday. There were 40 new cases on May 13 and there were 80 new cases on May 14.

“Nitong mga nakaraang araw ay paunti na nang paunti ang nakikita nating health care workers na nagpopositibo,” Department of Health (DOH) Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said in her press briefing today.

[These past few days, we see less and less of health workers testing positive for COVID-19.]

Vergeire reported on May 15 the health workers who the DOH confirmed tested positive as of May 14. Confirmed cases among health workers are reported a day later.

Frontliners in the health sector reported positive for COVID-19 include 812 nurses, 660 doctors, 137 nursing assistants, 81 medical technologists, 42 radiologic technologists and 260 non-medical staff in health care facilities.

“Nagpapakita ng patuloy na pagbaba ng mga bagong kaso ng COVID-19 sa ating mga health workers mula noong April 11.  Makikita po rito ang mga kaso ayon sa propesyon ng health workers base sa onset of illness,” said Vergeire of the graph she presented in her briefing.

[We see continued decline of new cases of COVID-19 among our health workers from April 11. We can see the cases in order of the profession of the health workers based on the onset of illness.]

The number of DOH confirmed COVID-19 cases is lower than those they also reported to have tested positive because the Health agency said they are still verifying the cases they did not include in their confirmed tally.
