Campus publications from all over Metro Manila and the rest of the country promptly released statements following the shut down of broadcast network ABS-CBN on May 5.

They joined in the call #NoToABSCBNShutdown and #DefendPressFreedom. Most of the campus publications assailed the attack on press freedom and democracy and the underhanded way in which this was dealt amid the enforced lockdown to curb the COVID-19 pandemic.
