On July 22, the 100,000-mark for individuals testing positive for COVID-19 was breached. In the Department of Health (DOH) Situation Report on July 22 posted late on July 23, positive individuals have reached 100,407. This number represented 8.7% positivity rate of 1,154,206 individuals tested.

The Health agency reported 1,594 cases on July 22, out of total tests done by 78 of 89 labs, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country to 72,269, with 46,803 active cases.

The difference between positive individuals and DOH-confirmed cases as of July 22 was at 28,138.

The DOH COVID-19 tracker indicated 100,675 positive individuals by July 23, while confirmed cases reached 74,390, among them 48,136 active cases, with 2,200 confirmed cases added to the tally. The discrepancy between positive individuals and DOH-confirmed cases is at 26,285 on July 23, lower than yesterday.

The DOH noted in its Situation Reports that the discrepancy between confirmed cases and positive individuals does not necessarily reflect backlogs in case validation—whereas before, the difference between the two has been considered validation backlogs of the agency.

DOH said on July 20 that they do not use the number of positive individuals posted on their tracker because of the deduplication and validation process being done by their Epidemiology Bureau.

Active cases represent 65% of the confirmed cases.
