Despite strong rains the previous day brought by tropical storm Pepito, farmers led a protest rally near Mendiola to raise to Malacañang their most urgent demands for food, aid, and justice, and to hold President Rodrigo Duterte accountable for the “worsening poverty, hunger, and repression suffered by Filipinos.”

Progressive groups joined farmers from Bulacan, Bataan, Pampanga, Tarlac and Rizal, and fisherfolk from Cavite in today’s protest in Manila in relation to the observance of Peasant Month.
