Millions of Filipinos welcomed Pope Francis in Metro Manila. Pope Francis was elected head of the Roman Catholic church in 2013. He is widely known for his critical stance on issues concerning the poor and the environment. In a speech at Malacañang palace, he told leaders “to reject every form of corruption which diverts resources from the poor”.
