Various labor groups and people’s organizations held a rally along Aurora Boulevard in Cubao, Quezon City to slam the one-time big-time oil price hike implemented today by oil companies.
The P2.35 increase per liter of gasoline that took effect 6:00am today is the biggest oil price hike this year.
Protesters called for oil price rollback, junking of oil deregulation law, scrapping of excise tax on oil and petroleum products, suspension of value-added tax on oil and petroleum products to immediately lower prices, end profiteering of the oil oligopoly in the country and nationalization of oil industry in the country.
