The Department of Health (DOH) Beat COVID-19 Philippine Situationer with data as of September 4 recorded 78 new COVID-19 cases in a day among health workers, bringing the total to 7,299. One in every 32 confirmed COVID-19 case in the country is a health worker.

The Health agency reported 662 active cases among health workers, with 33 more cases added in a day.

The DOH also tagged 45 new recoveries, bringing the total recoveries to 6,597.

Total deaths among health workers are at 40, the last recorded was on August 26.

A total of 275,994 individuals have tested positive, while the DOH have confirmed 232,072 COVID-19 cases. There is a difference of 43,992 cases that tested positive that the DOH have yet to validate to know whether this number would be included in the confirmed cases. The DOH also reported 1,202 testing backlogs.

The Philippines ranked first in the number of total cases in the Southeast Asian region, having 44,535 more cases than Indonesia (187,537) that ranked second. Singapore reported 56,948 cases, Malaysia 9,385 and Thailand 3,438, rounding the five countries in the region with the most cases.
