72 new COVID-19 cases among health workers in a day, total of 7,426 as of Sept 6

The Department of Health (DOH) Beat COVID-19 Philippine Situationer with data as of September 6 recorded 72 new COVID-19 cases in a day among health workers, bringing the total to 7,426. One in every 32 confirmed COVID-19 case in the country is a health worker.

The Health agency reported 494 active cases among health workers, which was 204 cases less than yesterday.

The DOH also tagged 276 new recoveries, part of the weekly “mass recoveries,” bringing the total recoveries to 6,892.

Total deaths among health workers are at 40, the last recorded was on August 26.

A total of 282,999 individuals have tested positive, while the DOH have confirmed 237,365 COVID-19 cases. There is a difference of 45,634 cases between those that tested positive and those that the DOH have yet to confirm/validate. The DOH also reported 880 testing backlogs.

The Philippines ranked first in the number of total cases in the Southeast Asian region, having 43,256 more cases than Indonesia (194,109) that ranked second. Singapore reported 57,022 cases, Malaysia 9,397 and Thailand 3,444, rounding the five countries with the most cases in the region.
