662 new COVID-19 cases among health workers, 552 recoveries and 12 deaths reported on Sept 9

The Department of Health (DOH) Beat COVID-19 Philippine Situationer with data as of September 9 recorded 662 new COVID-19 cases in a day among health workers, bringing the total to 8,156. This is the day the cases among health workers breached the 8,000-mark. One in every 30 confirmed COVID-19 case in the country is a health worker.

The Health agency reported 620 active cases among health workers, with 98 new cases added in a day.

The DOH also tagged 552 new recoveries, bringing the total recoveries to 7,484.

Total deaths among health workers are at 52, with 12 reported on September 9. Prior the 12 reported, the last recorded was on August 26.

A total of 294,194 individuals have tested positive, while the DOH have confirmed 245,143 COVID-19 cases. There is a difference of 49,051 cases between those that tested positive and those that the DOH have yet to confirm/validate. The DOH also reported 623 testing backlogs.

The Philippines ranked first in the number of total cases in the Southeast Asian region, having 41,801 more cases than Indonesia (203,342) that ranked second. Singapore reported 57,166 cases, Malaysia 9,583 and Thailand 3,447, rounding the five countries with the most cases in the region.
