The Department of Health (DOH) Beat COVID-19 Philippine Situationer with data as of September 2 recorded 41 new COVID-19 cases in a day among health workers, bringing the total to 7,156. One in every 31 confirmed COVID-19 case in the country is a health worker.

The Health agency reported 596 active cases among health workers, with 17 more cases added in a day.

The DOH also tagged 24 new recoveries, bringing the total recoveries to 6,520.

Total deaths among health workers are at 40, the last recorded was on August 26.

A total of 269,559 individuals have tested positive, while the DOH have confirmed 226,440 COVID-19 cases. There is a difference of 43,119 cases that tested positive that the DOH have yet to validate to know whether this number would be included in the confirmed cases. The DOH also reported 7,532 testing backlogs.

The Philippines ranks first in the number of total cases in the Southeast Asian region, having 42,172 more cases than Indonesia (184,268) that ranked second. Singapore reported 56,908 cases, Malaysia 9,374 and Thailand 3,427, rounding the five countries in the region with the most cases.
