26 new COVID-19 cases among health workers in a day, total of 7,452 as of Sept 7

The Department of Health (DOH) Beat COVID-19 Philippine Situationer with data as of September 7 recorded 26 new COVID-19 cases in a day among health workers, bringing the total to 7,452. One in every 32 confirmed COVID-19 case in the country is a health worker.

The Health agency reported 508 active cases among health workers, with 14 new cases added in a day.

The DOH also tagged 12 new recoveries, bringing the total recoveries to 6,904.

Total deaths among health workers are at 40, the last recorded was on August 26.

A total of 286,562 individuals have tested positive, while the DOH have confirmed 238,727 COVID-19 cases. There is a difference of 47,835 cases between those that tested positive and those that the DOH have yet to confirm/validate. The DOH also reported 1,694 testing backlogs.

The Philippines ranked first in the number of total cases in the Southeast Asian region, having 41,738 more cases than Indonesia (196,989) that ranked second. Singapore reported 57,044 cases, Malaysia 9,459 and Thailand 3,445, rounding the five countries with the most cases in the region.
