Numerous progressive groups gathered at a protest at Liwasang Bonifacio in spite of blockades by the Philippine National Police (PNP). This day marks the 49th Martial Law declaration of late dictator Ferdinand Marcos, Sr.
As the groups condemned the injustices of martial law, calls to punish Duterte for human rights violations and extrajudicial killings from state policies under his rule and and his incompetence in handling the COVID-19 response were also demanded in the protest.
