Health workers echoed now is the time that Department of Health (DOH) secretary Francisco Duque III to resign following his ‘gross negligence, inept and inefficient response’ alongside his failure in providing their COVID-19 benefits secured under “Bayanihan 2” law.

Garb in PPEs and hospital uniforms, the medical frontliners took the streets going to DOH headquarters while holding placards, cans, and kitchen utensils for a noise barrage in time for their conduct of National Day of Protest.

Today also marked their last day of ‘waiting’ on the long overdue Special Risk Allowance and Active Hazard Duty Pay despite the fact that President Rodrigo Duterte has ordered Duque to pay the health workers promised benefits.

As modern heroes of society in time of COVID-19, they affirmed that their struggle shall continue so long that incompetence to provide adequate health service is in deplorable condition under the Duterte administration.
