99 new COVID-19 cases among health workers, total of 8,764 as of Sept 16

The Department of Health (DOH) Beat COVID-19 Philippine Situationer with data as of September 16 recorded 99 new COVID-19 cases in a day among health workers, bringing the total to 8,764. One in every 31 confirmed COVID-19 case in the country is a health worker.

The Health agency reported 638 active cases among health workers, with 54 cases added in a day.

The DOH also tagged 45 new recoveries, bringing the total recoveries to 8,068.

Total deaths among health workers remains at 58. The last reported deaths were one each on Sept 14 and 15. The DOH has recorded a total of 4,732 deaths.

A total of 320,625 individuals have tested positive, while the DOH have confirmed 272,934 COVID-19 cases. There is a difference of 47,691 cases between those that tested positive and those that the DOH have confirmed. The DOH also reported 1,600 testing backlogs on this day.

The Philippines ranked first in the number of total cases in the Southeast Asian region, having 43,941 more cases than Indonesia (228,993) that ranked second. Singapore reported 57,514 cases, Malaysia 10,301 and Thailand 3,490, rounding off the five countries with the most cases in the region.
