80 new cases, 6,399 total cases among health workers as of August 21

The Department of Health (DOH) Beat COVID-19 Philippine Situationer with data as of August 21 recorded 80 new COVID-19 cases in a day among health workers, bringing the total to 6,399.

The DOH also tagged 21 recoveries, bringing the total recoveries to 5,717.

The Health agency reported 643 active cases among health workers, after 59 active cases were added in a day.

Deaths remain at 39 since August 2.

A total of 223,621 individuals have tested positive, while the DOH have confirmed 182,365 COVID-19 cases. There is a difference of 32,957 cases that tested positive that the DOH have yet to validate to know whether this number would be included in the confirmed cases. The DOH also reported 9,489 testing backlogs.

The Philippines ranks first in the number of total cases in the Southeast Asian region, having 30,811 more cases than Indonesia that ranked second.
