74 new COVID-19 cases among health workers in a day, total of 7,006 cases as of August 30

The Department of Health (DOH) Beat COVID-19 Philippine Situationer with data as of August 30 recorded 74 new COVID-19 cases in a day among health workers, bringing the total to 7,006. One in every 31 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country is a health worker.

The Health agency reported 518 active cases among health workers, less than 226 active cases from yesterday.

The DOH also tagged 300 new recoveries, bringing the total recoveries to 6,448.

Total deaths among health workers are at 40, the last recorded was on August 26.

A total of 258,416 individuals have tested positive, while the DOH have confirmed 217,396 COVID-19 cases. There is a difference of 41,020 cases that tested positive that the DOH have yet to validate to know whether this number would be included in the confirmed cases. The DOH also reported 3,889 testing backlogs.

The Philippines ranks first in the number of total cases in the Southeast Asian region, having 45,343 more cases than Indonesia (172,053) that ranked second. Singapore reported 58,771 cases, Malaysia 9,334 and Thailand 3,411, rounding the five countries in the region with the most cases.
