51 new COVID-19 cases among health workers in a day, total of 7,115 as of September 1

The Department of Health (DOH) Beat COVID-19 Philippine Situationer with data as of September 1 recorded 51 new COVID-19 cases in a day among health workers, bringing the total to 7,115. One in every 31 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country is a health worker.

The Health agency reported 579 active cases among health workers, with 25 more cases added in a day.

The DOH also tagged 26 new recoveries, bringing the total recoveries to 6,496.

Total deaths among health workers are at 40, the last recorded was on August 26.

A total of 265,895 individuals have tested positive, while the DOH have confirmed 224,264 COVID-19 cases. There is a difference of 41,631 cases that tested positive that the DOH have yet to validate to know whether this number would be included in the confirmed cases. The DOH also reported 11,561 testing backlogs.

The Philippines ranks first in the number of total cases in the Southeast Asian region, having 46,023 more cases than Indonesia (174,796) that ranked second. Singapore reported 56,812 cases, Malaysia 9,340 and Thailand 3,417, rounding the five countries in the region with the most cases.
