100 new COVID-19 cases among health workers in a day, total of 8,439 as of Sept 11

The Department of Health (DOH) Beat COVID-19 Philippine Situationer with data as of September 11 recorded 100 new COVID-19 cases in a day among health workers, bringing the total to 8,439. One in every 30 confirmed COVID-19 case in the country is a health worker.

The Health agency reported 698 active cases among health workers, with 13 new cases added in a day.

The DOH also tagged 87 new recoveries, bringing the total recoveries to 7,687.

Total deaths among health workers remain at 54, with the last two recorded on September 10.

A total of 302,544 individuals have tested positive, while the DOH have confirmed 252,962 COVID-19 cases. There is a difference of 49,582 cases between those that tested positive and those that the DOH have yet to confirm/validate. The DOH also reported 7,888 testing backlogs.

The Philippines ranked first in the number of total cases in the Southeast Asian region, having 42,022 more cases than Indonesia (210,940) that ranked second. Singapore reported 57,315 cases, Malaysia 9,810 and Thailand 3,461, rounding the five countries with the most cases in the region.
