76 health workers positive for COVID-19 on May 11; total up to 2,067

(Updated) Health workers positive for COVID-19 breached the 2,000 mark on May 11, also the day the lockdown in Metro Manila, Laguna and Cebu City was announced extended until May 31.

The Department of Health (DOH) reported on May 12 that 2,067 health worker have tested positive for COVID-19 by May 11. The number rose by 76 today, as the number of infected health workers was only at 1,991 yesterday.

With 11,350 confirmed cases in the country, health workers infected with COVID-19 account for 18% or almost one out of five of total positive cases.

Of the 2,067 cases, 1,389 are active cases, 643 have recovered and 35 died. One more health worker died today, while 59 more recovered.

Among the active cases, seven are health workers with severe symptoms; 1,206 or 74% are those with mild symptoms; and, 356 (25.6%) are asymptomatic.

The most number of medical professionals infected with the virus are nurses, numbering to 759 (36.71%). There are 631 doctors positive for COVID-19, 129 nursing assistants, 72 medical technologists and 39 radiology technologists.
