Around 500 members of the Revolutionary Council of Trade Unions (RCTU) held a lightning rally today along Recto Avenue in Manila to celebrate the 46th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of the Philippines’ (CPP).

“The people’s war continues to gain strength. Because of the ever-worsening conditions in the country, more workers and oppressed masses are taking the path of revolutionary struggle, especially the armed struggle being waged by the New People’s Army” said RCTU spokesperson Juan de Mayo.

The CPP was founded on December 26, the birthday of Chinese revolutionary leader Mao Zedong. The CPP has been waging an armed revolution spanning over 4 decades.
