Makabayan Coalition kicks off the start of the campaign period in a gathering with supporters from various sectors and progressive organizations in Brgy. Kaunlaran, Quezon City, yesterday.

Makabayan senatorial and party-list candidates vowed to push forward pro-people politics which aim to increase workers’ minimum wage to the P1,200 family living wage, lowering the cost of essential goods, removing taxes on water, electricity, and oil, putting an end to contractualization, and developing both the agriculture and industry sector of the country.

While the candidates confessed that challenging the political dynasties deeply entrenched in Philippine politics is an arduous struggle they asserted that the strength of their campaign comes from the grassroots and the continuous fight of the basic sectors of society for their rights and demands.
