Salinlahi Alliance for Children’s Concerns, alongside children, parents, child rights advocates, and other progressive organizations presented the Children’s Electoral Agenda at the Commission on Human Rights (CHR), yesterday, April 2, as part of their campaign to uphold children’s rights and to urge candidates to prioritize children’s needs in their platforms.
The Children’s Electoral Agenda highlighted key demands such as sustainable livelihoods for families, putting a stop to the systematic violation of the rights of children, healthcare for children and families, education for all children, ample aid and support during crises and calamities, and upholding the rights of the Moro and national minorities.
The demands were created after Salinlahi conducted consultations in 10 regions in the Philippines regarding the conditions of communities and the children in these communities.
The groups denounced former President Rodrigo Duterte for his gross and systemic violation of human rights enacted under the War on Drugs and rabid red-tagging brought about by the formation of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC), while also condemning President Marcos Jr. because of the continuous violation of human rights.
