Various progressive and civil society organizations, sectors, and EDSA uprising veterans marched through the streets toward the People Power Monument to commemorate the 39th anniversary of People Power. With raised banners and placards, the protesters recalled the spirit of collective action of EDSA, which ousted the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos Sr., to call for true democracy and justice.
Calls for Sara Duterte’s conviction, putting an end to the militarization of communities, the abolishment of the Anti-Terror Law, and condemnation of rampant corruption were also highlighted by the protesters.
