79 new COVID-19 cases among health workers, total of 8,573 as of Sept 13

The Department of Health (DOH) Beat COVID-19 Philippine Situationer with data as of September 13 recorded 79 new COVID-19 cases in a day among health workers, bringing the total to 8,573. One in every 30 confirmed COVID-19 case in the country is a health worker.

The Health agency reported 537 active cases among health workers, less than 191 cases than the previous day after the weekly “mass recovery” implemented by the DOH.

The DOH also tagged 270 new recoveries, bringing the total recoveries to 7,980.

Total deaths among health workers remain at 56, the last two deaths were recorded on September 12.

A total of 309,546 individuals have tested positive, while the DOH have confirmed 261,216 COVID-19 cases. There is a difference of 48,330 cases between those that tested positive and those that the DOH have confirmed. The DOH also reported 2,428 testing backlogs on this day.

The Philippines ranked first in the number of total cases in the Southeast Asian region, having 42,834 more cases than Indonesia (218,382) that ranked second. Singapore reported 57,406 cases, Malaysia 9,915 and Thailand 3,475, rounding off the five countries with the most cases in the region.
