The Department of Health (DOH) Beat COVID-19 Philippine Situationer with data as of August 18 recorded 23 new COVID-19 cases in a day among health workers, bringing the total to 6,142.

The DOH also tagged 1 recovery, bringing the total recoveries to 5,620. The Health agency reported 483 active cases among health workers, after 22 active cases were added in a day.

Deaths remain at 39 since August 2.

A total of 211,019 individuals have tested positive, while the DOH have confirmed 169,213 COVID-19 cases. There is a difference of 41,806 cases that tested positive that the DOH have yet to validate to know whether this number would be included in the confirmed cases. The DOH also reported 16,079 testing backlogs.

The Philippines ranks first in the number of total cases in the Southeast Asian region, having 26,170 more cases than Indonesia that ranked second.
