1 new death, 80 new cases, total of 6,735 COVID-19 cases among health workers as of August 26

The Department of Health (DOH) Beat COVID-19 Philippine Situationer with data as of August 26 recorded 80 new COVID-19 cases in a day among health workers, bringing the total to 6,735.

The Health agency reported 625 active cases among health workers, after 43 new active cases were added in a day.

The DOH also tagged 36 new recoveries, bringing the total recoveries to 6,070.

One new death was recorded, bringing the total to 40.

A total of 241,195 individuals have tested positive, while the DOH have confirmed 202,361 COVID-19 cases. There is a difference of 38,834 cases that tested positive that the DOH have yet to validate to know whether this number would be included in the confirmed cases. DOH also reported 627 testing backlogs.

The Philippines ranks first in the number of total cases in the Southeast Asian region, having 42,196 more cases than Indonesia (160,165) that ranked second. Singapore reported 56,495 cases, Malaysia 9,291 and Thailand 3,403, rounding the five countries in the region with the most cases.
